Mitchell A. Miller is Director Cheminformatics within the multidisciplinary Science Team at LION bioscience and has more than 14 years of experience designing, developing and deploying applications to improve research productivity. His extensive computational background has been instrumental in developing information systems that facilitate compound registration, browsing and report generation, and chemical database management for several major pharmaceutical companies. Within LION, the focus has been on using compound information in the greater context of research informatics.

Dr. Miller earned his bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from Queens College of the City University of New York where he also earned a master’s degree in Chemistry. After completing his thesis, which included development of a system that greatly reduced
the cost of large-scale ab initio molecular orbital calculations, Dr. Miller received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the City University of New York.

Dr. Miller joined MDL Information Systems as a Strategic Applications Scientist and further developed his computational chemistry skills by working on numerous database projects and gaining considerable expertise in the field of cheminformatics. As Quality Assurance Engineer for Internet Technologies at MDL, Dr. Miller further enhanced his computational prowess by developing Web-enabled database access applications and other programs for internal and external use.

Dr. Miller is an experienced consultant who has worked with leading pharmaceutical, agrochemical and chemical companies. He is experienced with full software development life cycle methodology and has a strong background in Web technology, especially as it is applied to pharmaceutical research.
