David Lloyd hails from Dublin, Ireland, and gained his primary B.Sc. in applied chemistry and later his Ph.D. in the design and synthesis of novel antimalarial agents from Dublin City University. On graduation he moved to Trinity College Dublin where he was appointed Research Fellow in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy, working extensively on the rational design of antiestrogenic ligands and the development of novel apoptotic compounds. In 2001 David moved to Cambridge in the UK to join De Novo Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Scientist in the Applied Design drug discovery group. David currently heads De Novo’s ligand-based design discovery program.
