Alessandro Contini was born in Luino (Italy) in 1973. In 1999 he took the laurea in “Chimica e Tecnologia Farmaceutiche” (Medicinal Chemistry and Technology) from the School of Pharmacy, University of Milan. In 2002 he spent a period in the group of Prof. Folkers and Prof. Scapozza at the ETH of Zürich with the aim of learning molecular modeling techniques applied to medicinal chemistry. In 2003 he got the PhD in “Medicinal Chemistry” at University of Milan. He is a research assistant of Prof. P. Trimarco at “Istituto di Chimica Organica “A. Marchesini” (Institute for Organic Chemistry “A. Marchesini”), University of Milan. The main research interests belong to ab-initio and DFT calculations applied to organic chemistry, the study of the interactions between small organic molecules and biomolecules by computational techniques, and the experimental organic synthesis applied to the transformation of amidines into heterocycles.
