| | Predictive ADMET Workshop in Oxford (2-6 August 2010) | The workshop will be held on the historic campus of Oxford University. The Medical Sciences Teaching Laboratory is located in South Parks Road, Oxford (see MAP showing the workshop location, accommodation and the railway & bus stations).
Arriving in Oxford from a London airport

London has five airports, but by far the easiest connection to Oxford is from either Heathrow (shortest journey and more frequent buses) or Gatwick. The Oxford Bus Company runs services frequently throughout the day and night from Heathrow and Gatwick and so you do not need to book tickets in advance, you just pay the driver in cash as you get on. It's a good idea to get a 'Period Return' if you plan to return the same way after the workshop. For example, fares from Heathrow are about £20 single but just £25 for a period return. IMPORTANT: There are a few stops on the way into Oxford city before the bus terminal at Gloucester Green – stay on the bus till you reach the terminal (unless you’ve arranged accommodation yourself which is closer to an earlier stop). For those staying in college accommodation, you will probably need to take a taxi (walk through the alley on the right of the shops and there's a taxi rank across the square).
If you're arriving into one of the other London airports you should enquire at the Information Desk about the best way. It will probably mean travelling into central London and taking either a train from Paddington Station or a bus from Victoria Station.
There are no parking facilities available, and we have been told there are some public parking places in Mansfield Road (Pay & Display). There are also Park & Ride facilities serving the major routes into Oxford and you might want to consider using one of these.

Bed and breakfast accommodation in Oxford University colleges can be found at http://www.oxfordrooms.co.uk/. As the various colleges operate differently, rooms become available on a week-to-week basis. It is suggested that if there is nothing available or meets your criteria at first, keep checking as colleges will make rooms available from time to time. Some colleges slowly release rooms or will change pricing over time. Keble College and Mansfield College are recommended as they are located close to the Medical Sciences Teaching Laboratory. Balliol College and Wadham College are also good choices

Please be careful in verifying the location of any of these options as both public transportation and parking in Oxford can be very challenging and so it is always best to be within walking distance of the workshops location.

A final note on accommodations: Oxford is a popular destination in the summer and does not have large hotels, so it is best to make these arrangements sooner than later.
