David Lloyd hails from Dublin, Ireland, and holds a BSc in Applied Chemistry and a medicinal organic chemistry PhD from Dublin City University. He was appointed as Research Fellow in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy, Trinity College Dublin, and worked extensively on the rational design of estrogen receptor modulators and the development of novel apoptotic compounds. In 2001 David moved to De Novo Pharmaceuticals, Cambridge, UK as Senior Scientist in their Applied Design drug discovery group. David headed De Novo's ligand-based design discovery program and their G-protein coupled receptor library production collaboration with Peakdale Molecular. David returned to Trinity College Dublin in 2004, appointed as Hitachi Lecturer in Advanced Computing within the Department of Biochemistry. His research team, the Molecular Design Group, is focused on the application of rational drug discovery technologies for early lead identification - linking virtual and wet-lab sciences.
